Ministry of Caring
Women's Shelter Project
Answers marked with a * are required.

We met with the directors of the Ministry of Caring’s three women’s shelters.  One shelter is for single women and the other two are for women and children. Although their basic needs are being met, the women need help with many of the skills and abilities we learned growing up, raising families, and in the workplace. These skills are important in helping them look for a job, get further education, and develop self-esteem.  We hope you see working with women in the shelters as a good project where we can get to know each other better while working on a project that will benefit women in Wilmington and help them get on their feet again.

One way of beginning the process of feeling comfortable with the shelter women is with a fun social activity, such as an evening of board games, cards and /or baking cookies.  Assessing our own strengths and skills, which we can share with the women, is another step.  We would like to partner groups of women from Immanuel Church/Olive Tree Ministries and Beth Shalom to work with women at the shelter on projects using one or some of the talents/skills listed below.

Please check as many of the talents below you are gifted with or feel comfortable demonstrating, and feel free to add any others you think of that could be useful.

The Ministry of Caring shelter office could also use a few women for some office work—scanning, copying and filing paperwork, please check here if you are available to volunteer.
