TEACHING CODING AND MOBILE DEVICES IN TELECENTRES
WHAT IS CODEMOB? CodeMob is a project designed to improve the delivery of key digital competences in telecentres. This objective is two-fold: on one hand, we would like to develop digital competences of unemployed youth through innovative introductory courses on coding and mobile devices. On the other, we aim to enhance e-facilitators’ (educational staff in telecentres) competences by training them how to deliver these courses. WHY CODING AND MOBILE DEVICES? There is an increasing need for digital skills for all jobs where digital technology complements existing tasks. In the near future 90% of jobs in all sectors will require some level of digital skills. Coding is a way to teach algorithmic and computational thinking and a catalyst of thinking that combines creativity with structured approach, efficiency and planning skills. The effective use of mobile devices such as smart phones and tablets can greatly enhance learning and personal development, social skills, connectivity, and ultimately the ability to find a good job. And yes, we will be also learning how to write apps for mobile devices! WHO WILL BE INVOLVED? We will develop and provide a three-month blended training programme for a group of 20 e-facilitators (5 people from Belgium, Croatia, Hungary and Spain, respectively), who will deliver the training to end-users in coding and use of mobile devices, once they are trained to do that. In terms of end-users, the target group is unemployed young people, with a focus on those not in education, employment or training. We aim to involve at least 60 youngsters, 15 in each of the four countries. WHAT IS THE AIM OF THIS SURVEY? In the next months we are going to develop the training curriculum for both e-facilitators and young learners. With the help of this survey we would like to learn about your experiences, if any, as e-facilitator you have with training courses on coding and the use of mobile devices. We would also like to hear about your learning needs, specific interests, your opinion on how the training should be structured, and ultimately your interest in taking part in the CodeMob experience! Please kindly fill in the following survey before 31st January 2016. For more information about CodeMob project please do not hesitate to contact Peter Palvolgyi (firstname.lastname@example.org) at Telecentre Europe, or your national contact point: Thank you for your collaboration and support!
